Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Pensacola Commercial Water Damage

When a hot water tank leaks in a residential building, some amount of commercial water damage is almost always the result, even a small scale leak can turn into significant mold damage quickly if cleaning does not begin within 24-48-hours.

By the time the property owner contacted SERVPRO technicians to come to this West Pensacola apartment with commercial water damage, 12 days had passed, and a mold infestation had spread throughout the unit. Because of their experience and certification for Mold Remediation #MRSR 2768, the technicians knew the actions needed to halt any further spread of the mold and stop the problem.

Tear Out During Mold Remediation

Due to the mold colonies spreading throughout the apartment, the unit required an extensive amount of controlled demolition to eliminate the mold infestation and dispose of damaged building materials. The drywall in the entire apartment home required removal. The carpet and padding were beyond the point of restoration and also needed elimination and disposal. In the kitchen, the cabinets were torn out as the presence of mold was found.

Electricity Being Off is No Problem

The property needed drying, and the electricity was off in this unit. SERVPRO technicians brought their own generators to power the necessary equipment to dry the structure and get it ready for reconstruction. The techs carefully monitor the air moisture levels during and after the drying process to ensure that the ambient humidity is below sustainable levels for mold spore germination and growth.

Techs Prep for Rebuilding

SERVPRO techs swept the structure using a HEPA vacuum and applied an antimicrobial sealant to the studs and all surfaces within the unit to inhibit any regrowth of the mold colonies before rebuilding began. This is a detailed process with a white-colored sealant that applies much like paint, so it is easy to see which areas in the unit got treated, so they miss nothing during this stage. Once remediation efforts complete, the unit is ready for reconstruction.
